Wonderful news for “We Tiptons”.
Following the death of Colonel John Tipton on 18 August 1813, Thomas Jefferson wrote a letter of condolences to Colonel John’s son, John Tipton II, dated September 14th, 1813. It was a great honor for the author of the Declaration of Independence and former President to recognize Colonel John’s passing.

The TFAA Meeting is on October 8th @ Rocky Mount Museum
Rocky Mount Museum is located at 200 Hyder Hill Road in Piney Flats, Tennessee.

Our group will be afforded a guided tour of the Rocky Mount Museum Site.
The meeting will begin at 9:00 with registration followed immediately by a showing of the film The Mysterious Lost State of Franklin. Then, time to visit before the president’s message, Treasury report and update on association business.

Greetings to All!
Response to the last TFAA newsletter was wonderful. Many emails from Tipton family and descendants all over the country came in. We have over 150 addresses in our email distribution lists. My thanks to everyone who forwarded the newsletter. Dozens of new people are being informed of the family association and its goals.
Most of the funding needed to launch the TFAA website is in hand. We need another two hundred dollars.

I am very proud and happy to be President of the Tipton Family Association of America. I want to thank Robert Tipton Nave for nominating me for the office and the association members for their confidence in electing me at our October meeting. I plan to devote time and energy to our family’s association providing the public with knowledge of the achievements of the Tiptons and helping descendants obtain the information they seek about our Tipton family.
